ABOUT US

Evolution Home has enjoyed a loyal following for decades. Those-in-the-know flock in, discovering previously loved and environmentally friendly, sustainable items. Shoppers seeking the unique, well-made, wonderfully quirky, or vintage piece have discovered Alexandria’s not-so-little secret: ‘A Store Like None Other.’

Devotees have followed the beloved resale store as it grew – from its Del Ray launch in 1999 at the intersection of Mt. Vernon & East Monroe, to the “big, green box” off Richmond & S. King’s Highways. Spring 2022 saw Evolution Home expand once more, moving to a spacious, bright, new location in Alexandria City’s trending West End neighborhood.

861 S. Pickett Street is Evolution Home’s latest address - easily accessible & just 5 minutes off the Beltway’s Van Dorn exit.

Owner Susan Driscoll & her husband, Lee Blount, attribute Evolution Home’s success to “the enormous variety of high-quality vintage and antique items we offer through our 29 Dealers and hundreds of Consignors.” Several of the same Dealers have remained with her shop throughout its 25-year history.

Customers appear to concur with Driscoll’s explanation of the store’s success.  Evolution Home has been voted Best Antique and Consignment Shop in yearly competitions held by the Alexandria Times and Zebra Publications.

Did You Know?

The north side of the old Del Ray location (now a Walgreen’s drug store), bears a painted trompe l’oeil mural of an antique store window that Driscoll commissioned from a local artist. It still graces the building, as Del Ray residents insisted the mural remain in place.
